Re-membering You (pt. 1): Body

Writer: DanielleEastmanDanielleEastman

Happy Monday, friends! Inspired by our Aya friend, Alicia Jefferson's fantastic podcast on the subject, this week, we'll start a spacious dive into: "Taking time to re-member (reclaim, reconnect, reunite) you: body, mind, emotions, and spirit."

We'll start by highlighting and zooming in on one area. This week, we'll focus in on taking time to re-member (reclaim, reconnect, reunite): our physical body.

Since we focus on sensing, connecting with, and embodying our physical body in every Aya class (for health, joy, presence, expression, and holistic integration), this focus will probably sound really familiar at first...

However, with our focus on "re-membering" (think: opposite of dismemberment) we'll add a bit more emphasis on:

Are there any parts of your body you feel a bit more disassociated, distanced, or disconnected from?

It is these aspects that we'll be gently tuning into and inviting into our experience for some re-connection, befriending, and re-integration this week.

But no need to wait until class, friends. We can start exploring and re-membering anytime. One way would be to simply pause and close your eyes for a few minutes and scan your body from feet to crown.

Simply take a little time to tune-in and connect... body part by body part...

As you scan and sense, you could ask yourself: How connected do you feel -- or what is your relationship like -- with your...

Feet...

Ankles...

Legs...

Hips...

Spine...

Abdomen...

Chest...

Back...

Shoulders...

Neck...

Arms...

Hands...

Face...

Head...

Or maybe, you could explore layers such as:

Bones...

Joints...

Muscles...

Connective tissue...

Skin...

Or perhaps consider your:

Nervous system...

Digestive system...

Respiratory system...

Cardiovascular system...

Ears/Hearing...

Eyes/Sight...

Nose/Smell...

Skin/Touch...

Voice...

As you scan, simply notice what comes up...

Are there any aspects of your body that you'd like to take a little time to "re-member" (reclaim, reconnect, reunite) or befriend a bit more at this time in your life?

To connect with a bit more?

To give a little extra love, nourishment, and care?

To enjoy more?

As for class, we'll dive into this focus starting tonight on Zoom, and (as always) I can't wait to see what we discover together.

See you there, friends!

Dani

P.S. I highly recommend listening to Alicia's lovely episode on this topic -- it is so great!! 20 min. of calming, nourishing, poetic, inspiring wisdom. A beautiful way to set the tone for your week (link below).

P.P.S. Curious about what Aya is like on Zoom? Come on over and join us anytime. There's always a free 2-wk trial available -would absolutely love for you to join on in and feel it out.
