Connecting with the music.

One of the things I love so much about dancing, is that even if we are dancing by ourselves, we are never alone. We always are connecting with something outside of ourselves: the music.

As we tune in and dance, our body is connecting with the drums… the bass line… the melody… the shakers… the violin… the vocals… the chords of the piano… the high hat… the harmonies… and so much more…

We’re listening and joining in with the vibrations. And that connection feels so gooooooooood.

We soften when it’s soft. We flow when it’s flowy. We amp ourselves up when more intense. We bounce when it’s bouncy. We slow down and chill when it’s chill. We eventually settle into stillness.

We’re blending our body (self) with the music… It’s an experience of unity... Connection... Being in relationship with... Oneness... Togetherness…

And —oh my goodness— no wonder dancing feels so delicious!

This week in Aya, we’re simply going to focus on connecting with the music, and enjoying that beautiful sensation of uniting with the sounds we hear.

Then, outside of class (and outside of just music) we might also consider:

  • What are we connecting/uniting with now?

  • What’s available to connect with in this moment? (so much!)

  • What are we choosing to be in connection with?

As always, I can’t wait to see what we discover together! See you soon!

With love,

💛 Dani
